We would like to encourage the younger generation to think about our water supplies - Where does water come from?  How do we look after it?  By knowing more about this precious resource we can ensure that it is there for many generations to come.  Below and on the next few pages you will find fun facts and experiments to try at home.
TEACHERS - Call and request our "Teacher Resource Package" for your class.  This includes general information on water and conservation as well as simple experiments that can be done in the classroom.  You can also call and book a tour of our facility with your class that includes personalized water bottles with the School Logo and the Class and date of the tour on them.

Did You Know???

The water we are drinking today is the same water that the dinosaurs drank and swam in - this water has been on earth since it was created and it just keeps being recycled through a process called the "Hydrologic Cycle"

The hydrologic cycle begins with the evaporation of water from the surface of the ocean. As moist air is lifted, it cools and water vapour condenses to form clouds. Moisture is transported around the globe until it returns to the surface as precipitation. Once the water reaches the ground, one of two processes may occur;

1) some of the water may evaporate back into the atmosphere or

2) the water may penetrate the surface and become groundwater. Groundwater either seeps its way to into the oceans, rivers, and streams, or is released back into the atmosphere through transpiration. The balance of water that remains on the earth's surface is runoff, which empties into lakes, rivers and streams and is carried back to the oceans, where the cycle begins again.
